Lebanon Participates
In the 2nd Middle East Transplant Games.
29-31 October 2007 in Kuwait
ORGAN DONATION: HOPE. LOVE. NEW LIFE!
It is written that death is our inescapable fate!
Sometimes, however, medical progress has succeeded in transforming this sad event into a breath of hope.
Hope for some desperate patients through the gift of a new life given to them by dying heroes who have elected to legate their organs rather than allowing them to rot to waste.
Some people are remembered for an invention they have created, a famous book they have written or a work of art they have produced. Others are remembered as patriots or as martyrs.
Organ donors are universally remembered.
The memory of their contribution is embodied today in 6 young athletes from Lebanon 3 are kidney transplant recipients and the other 3 are cardiac transplant recipients. They are here to participate in the 2nd transplant games held in Kuwait from the 29th to the 31st of October 2007.
This participation is meant to honor the sacrifice of those anonymous organ donors who have transformed this dream into reality.
It is only through the invaluable help of many benefactors that The National organization for Organ and Tissue Donation and Transplantation (NOOTDT Lebanon) has been able to carry on this project. We are also grateful to our local supporters in Lebanon: The Lebanese Ministry of Health, the Director of the Lycée Laique Français in Beirut who has graciously offered his stadium for the training of the team. The trainers: Mr. Naamtallah Bejjani, Mrs. Souha Marzouk, Mr. Boulos Bechara and Mr. Alain Bejjani who has accepted to accompany and coach the participants.
We have to start by thanking the organizers and the Kuwait Transplant Society.
We will never thank Donors enough! But the best way of thanking them, is to take the firm decision to bury our differences and our defects, to bury our perishable bodies and save and donate with love such noble organs that can give a new life to a needy brother .
Organ Transplantation will not be then a mere medical achievement it will be the solid proof that our society has progressed to a higher level of evolution solidarity.
